Ajmal Alikhan,
(Founder Chairman – Theeram Charitable Trust)
Everywhere it was the labour day celebrations going on, while I was trying to get out of my mother’s womb-on 1st may 1993. I Ajmal Ali Khan was the first child born to Mr. Ali and Mrs. Shahina and followed by my sister Najma Beegam . I grew up as an unexceptional child in a small town named Kollakadavu in the Alappuzha district of Kerala state, India . My childhood was rich enough with my parents love and money.
Mission
As an ensemble of generous donors, dedicated volunteers and supporters, Theeram share a mission of serving the most marginalized and excluded groups in society; like, the physically and mentally challenged persons, abandoned children, bedridden patients and other forsaken people. Indeed, our motto is the key to our ventures of humanitarian activities; that is, ‘Destined to Serve’. For us charitable giving is an integral part of the purpose of life and it is not a mere pastime out of sympathy.
Theeram aspire to convert our ceaseless compassion towards humanity into meaningful charitable acts for the socio-economic betterment of the poorest section of the population. Despite the narrow domestic walls of religion, language, caste, race and complexion, we uphold a cosmopolitan outlook towards the world. We intend to alleviate the weaknesses and woes of the disabled and poverty-stricken communities across different parts of the world.
Theeram has numerous projects and plans to promote social, economic, cultural, psychological and educational development of the needy in the society. It aims to build up confidence and courage among the so-called disabled by promoting self-help programmes and by providing emotional and economic support.
Vision
- TO BUILD A NATION WITHOUT POVERTY, MARGINALIZATION AND DISCRIMINATION
- TO STRENGTHEN THE DISABLED COMMUNITY
- TO ENSURE THE RIGHTS OF OLD AGE PEOPLE
- TO PROMOTE EDUCATION IRRESPECTIVE OF ECONOMIC STATUS
